I have to utilize these links to access the settings I want to change.and not all of them work. Dont let them send a in person tech because the contractors dont have access to any more then you do. They Do have access to this panel and can make the changes.the problem is it seems their t1/t2 Phone support techs have no idea what they are doing. THIS TAKES FOREVER and you have to hope that you get someone semi competent. The first thing I needed was a basic port forward, when I couldn't do option 2 (below ) I did option 1.ġ - you can call optimum and see if their tech support can do the port forward for you. So I had this issue (and did a write up here and on dslreports ) about how I was still able to do some things. And if the cable cards won't work or if they require me to keep renting the Altice equipment, my alternative is to drop TV and go with YoutubeTV for $65. I'm switching voice over to Ooma so I don't have to worry about getting an Arris TM3402. For anyone who just took the 1gig for life deal, can you replace and return their modem with your own modem? Has anyone had luck getting cable cards registered and working? Seems harder now than before.ģ. Can I return the equipment under the "for life" promotions or do they require you to keep renting them?Ģ. Is it a reasonable plan to get my own SB200 modem and 2 cable cards to keep operating the way that I have been? I'd eventually return the Altice One equipment to avoid the fees. From these threads, I'm suspecting that I'll have to get take their Altice One modem and Altice One mini for a TV. I'm using their modem (Arris TM 1602) and router now but instead of cable boxes, I have 2 cable cards feeding my Windows Media Center and HDHomePro HTPCs. I currently have Optimum for Internet/TV/Phone and I'm considering to sign up for the 1 gig and TV for life promotion (discontinue and have my wife sign up who has a different last name). Its essentially a last ditch effort to be competitive.and docsis 3.1 is a bad bandaid. OOL was extremely late to the game, their fiber expansion is basically all after Altice bought. Unlike most states they have been proactive in trying to support the expansion and regulate internet the same way as telco or cable. This is basically proven when you look at the NY State studies as they have tried to roll out statewide fiber. I firmly believe the lack of expansion for high population areas / states is the near monopoly of telecom. Obviously there are places which have little chance of getting fiber in the next decade, but thats what starlink is for. The areas that haven't been expanded to in the NY/NJ area are due mostly to monopolies or exclusive deals with apartments ( because usually the apartment has to cough up some to pay to redo a new install later ). Its been around for quite awhile now, over a decade and has seen rapid expansion in populated cities and States. I worked at a different ISP and worked on converting old docsis installs to fiber.
